Smile!

Employees should smile more.

A smiling face is always nice to see, isn’t it? We’ll work on that!

Thanks for the tip!

Parking Meters Accept Quarters Only

Now that the meters accept quarters only, it would be nice to have a change machine in the lobby.

Thank you,
D.S.

Dear D.S.
Since the City’s Transportation Department implemented new parking meters in the parking lot, the Circulation Desk nearest the lot has been kept well-equipped with plenty of extra quarters and is happy to make change for any quarter-less patron. This seems to be working out nicely without having to purchase, power and maintain a machine. Making change is no bother at all; just ask!

Sincerely,

Snacks

Better snacks!

We tend to restock the things that get emptied the soonest, but specific recommendations are welcome.

Ongoing Book Sale

More books in the book sale, please! It’s a great, affordable price, but more important works are needed.

Thanks for taking advantage of the sale shelves! The items in the sale are donations and discarded library materials, so the choices for what lands in the sale are sometimes limited. The best materials are made available in the annual book sale held each Fall.
I have, however, spoken with the custodian who stocks those shelves and asked him to keep an eye open for more classic works.

Kind regards,

Lights out! Closing time…

Please don’t turn the lights off so early before closing time.

Sorry for the inconvenience. The library often has visitors that never want to leave! While it’s nice to be appreciated, dimming the lights has often helped to move patrons along at closing time. Many of the study carrels do have individual lights available which sometimes get unplugged in favor of patrons using laptops, but please feel free to make use of those. Since the installation of the public address system, perhaps the dimming is no longer as crucial as it once was for alerting patrons to the approach of closing time. The custodial staff is going to wait until a bit closer to closing to dim the lights.
