The library feels like an oven and that is a waste of energy.
Libraries are a challenge to heat and cool efficiently due to the nature of books and paper which hold on to heat and humidity longer than air. The library staff are well aware that different areas of the building can be warmer or cooler than others and often dress in layers in order to adjust their personal temperatures as needed. OSHA has no regulations specifically addressing temperature and humidity but recommends temperature control in the range of 68-76° F and humidity control in the range of 20%-60%. (See www.osha.gov)
