Harry Potter coming your way, soon

There are only two more weeks until the first part of the last part of the Harry Potter saga is released at a theater near you. (follow that?) For those of us who have read the books, we’ll be anxious to see how well the movie holds up. So far, I have been pretty happy with the movie adaptations. I’m not sure how I feel about the last book being dragged out over two movies, however. I guess I will have to wait and see it until I make a judgment.
What has been your favorite Harry Potter movie, so far? What was your favorite book? Did you go to any of the midnight release parties for the book? Will you go to a midnight showing of the movie? What has been your favorite movie based on a book? (not including Harry Potter)
Don’t forget! You can get your Harry Potter fix at the library. We own all of the books and movies. We have copies of the books in multiple languages so come check them out!

Book Club @ McDevitt Middle School

Are you an eighth grader at McDevitt Middle School? Then join the lunch time book club. We officially meet one Wednesday a month at the school library. (Yes, you can eat in the library at the book club meeting!). Our last book was Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Hunger Games is part of an amazing trilogy of books about a futuristic society in which kids are sent to the annual Hunger Games to fight to the death on national television. (There is a lot more to it than that but I’m not giving away anything to those of you who haven’t read the books!). Our next book is Smile by Raina Telgemeier. Smile is a graphic novel and a memoir about a middle school girl in the 1980′s who is very self conscious about her teeth following an accident. Everyone in the club has been very excited to read it.
If you are a McDevitt Eighth Grader and want to join, please either talk to Ms. Clerkin at the McDevitt Middle School Library or Laura Bernheim at the Waltham Public Library.
Happy reading!
