Summer Reading Suggestions
Want to do some reading this summer, but not too thrilled with the choices on your school’s summer reading lists? We have a display of recommended books for high school students, in our reference area. Want more suggestions? You can always ask a librarian. (We have some librarians who purchase books for the teen area, and others who love to read the books in that room, so we will be glad to give you some titles). You can also subscribe to the monthly newsletter, Teen Scene, along with other newsletters of recommended books.
To get you started, here are some suggestions:
- The Year We Disappeared by Cylin and John Busby
- The World According to Garp by John Irving
- Far from Xanadu by Julie Anne Peters
- Impulse by Ellen Hopkins
- Let the Circle be Unbroken by Mildred Taylor
- A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
- Big Mouth and Ugly Girl by Joyce Carol Oates
- Day of Tears by Julius Lester
- City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
- Sold by Patricia McCormick
