The Bruins season is about to start!
Can’t wait for the 2010-11 Bruins Season to start? Me neither!
Here’s a brief update of the offseason…
Cam Neely is now the President of the Bruins organization.
Peter Chiarelli is still the General Manager.
Claude Julien‘s going into his 4th year as Head Coach.
Doug Jarvis was named a new Asst Coach alongside Doug Houda and Geoff Ward. Interesting fun fact about Doug Jarvis: as an NHL player, he holds the record for the most consecutive games played with 964 from October 8, 1975 to October 10, 1987.
Status of the team:
Marc Savard is suffering a recurrance of post-concussion syndrome and is not currently practicing with the team.
Tim Thomas and David Krejci are both playing again after offseason hip surgery.
Andrew Ference is back after 2 hernia surgeries.
Dennis Seidenberg had a tendon in his arm repaired and is currently in the line-up.
Marco Sturm is still recovering from knee surgery and is aiming for a mid-November return to the ice.
Milan Lucic seems up to speed after last season’s ankle issues and
“Big Z” Zdeno Chara declined to have his pinky finger surgically repaired deciding instead to let it heal.
Dennis Wideman was traded in return for Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell.
The B’s had #2 & #25 draft picks and got Tyler Seguin and Jordan Caron.

New to hockey or need a refresher? I mean no disrespect when I recommend Hockey for Dummies as a great overview of rules and NHL records. This and other hockey books can be found in call number 796.96.
Here’s the 2010-11 Official NHL Rulebook.
So that’s it for a little Bruins update just in time for the season to start.
